Here’s the GREATEST advice I’ve ever heard.

Have you ever asked, “What’s the purpose of my LIFE?”  I have. This past weekend I heard a quote that hit me below the belt buckle, and is perhaps the best advice I’ve ever received…

“The purpose of your life is to use your influence to help those who have no influence!”

This was said by Rick Warren, the author of the book, The Purpose Driven Life. According to Wikipedia, The Purpose Driven Life became the bestselling hardback non-fiction book in history, and is the second most translated book in the world, after the Bible. By 2007, it had already sold 30 million copies! Evidently, Rick is a guy with some valuable insights and I’m always up for stuff that equips you to become a better person as your life and body develops…

Here’s the problem…

Most guys chase the muscle and six-pack to BUILD THEIR OWN FRAGILE EGOS.You can spot these guys from a mile away, and they are all over YouTube and Facebook… 

And at first, I think this is normal.

I’ll admit, boosting my own ego was what motivated my initial “Skinny Vinny” transformation…

And there is nothing wrong with wanting muscle! You SHOULD want it and it’s a noble quest, however, if you’ve been working out for a few years now and still striving for MORE muscle to build your EGO, you’ve missed the point…

At some point, we need to think about what Rick Warren said about influence…

“The purpose of your life is to use your influence to help those who have no influence!”

If you’re lean, healthy and muscular, YOU have influence.

Let’s look at some practical examples:

  • YOU have influence to help your son or daughter get started.
  • YOU have influence to help your parents eat better.
  • YOU have influence to help your friend train smarter.
  • YOU have influence to help your spouse stay motivated.
  • YOU have influence to tell your students where to find quality information. (Hint hint wink wink :))
  • YOU have the influence to inspire young kids to use their talents for something positive.

The question is, are you going to use your influence to serve yourself or others?

I think of my great friend, IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski is an evolving example of this. Not only is he becoming one of the biggest bodybuilders in the world by achieving his own physical goals but he’s using his influence to influence those without any influence. His recent MI40 Top Gun Search was a great example of this.

It’s no doubt that Ben is on track to becoming the next most successful bodybuilder in the world – next to Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ben gets that the muscle can be a stepping stone to greater things…

Again…

“The purpose of your life is to use your influence to help those who have no influence!”

This quote inspires me to feature Success Students on my Facebook Fan Page and give them recognition to my 500k fans … Just like Bodybuilding.com did for me back in the day, which jump started my online business…

This quote inspires me to do Muscle Camps at my home gym…. During the camps I get to hear my attendees life goals and I try to motivate them to make it happen…

That’s one of the reasons I created The Live Large Inner Circle. Not only does it meet my financial needs but it allows me to influence those without an influence (yet) and that gives me great satisfaction.

I’m not kidding when I say…

My vision for you is NOT just bigger muscles and ripped abs. That’s EASY. You WILL achieve this. Maybe you already have…

What I REALLY want for you is to see the muscle become a stepping stone to a greater LIFE.

My vision for you is to find your dream career…

My vision for you is to find the spouse of your dreams…

My vision for you is to lead your family…

This is what living large is all about.

Remember, life is more than Perfect PECS, Huge ARMS and Ripped ABS… This stuff is all great but once you achieve it, then what?

If you still have a fragile ego after achieving these great body parts, then you’re searching for fulfillment in the wrong area…

If you haven’t written this down yet…

1 cup of rolled oats
