Why Obama Won’t Change Your World

By

Vince Del Monte, WBFF Pro Fitness Model, Certified Fitness Trainer
and Nutritionist and author of No Nonsense Muscle
Building.

Today at 1:35pm, I’m flying out of Buffalo to be in LA till Tuesday to hang out with some friends, network and train. But before I jump on the plane, I want to tell you why Obama is NOT going to change you life.

I don’t rant very often, but with all the  Inauguration madness and “Obama Mania” flooding the airways and media, I feel left out, so here’s what I have to say…

If you wish to disagree, agree or post your comments on my rant, do so below.  This one should get the blood boiling so get onto the edge of your chair.

OBAMA IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE YOUR WORLD.

Obama is not going to change or save THE world.

Obama is not a “savior.”

Obama is not a “miracle worker.”

Obama is not your “government.”

Obama is not going to fix your life.

I know this might rock your boat and I know that you may believe (I know I am generalizing and I know you may completely agree with what I am about to say) but I know that you may be thinking that on January 20th, when Obama got sworn into office, that he is going to change the world and that everything is going to be different.

Yes, Obama is America’s new leader.  Yes, he is here with a new game plan and an excellent agenda that I hope he follows through on.  Yes, he is here to change our attitude and others attitude towards the United States.  I hope he will do a great job.

But I got news for you.  Obama is not going to fix your world.

He is not going to change your life. The only way you are going to change your own life is by changing your own life.  The only way you are going to fix your current situation is by fixing your current situation.

Change requires working on yourself harder than anyone else.  So if you are under the belief that Obama is going to change your life today or when he gets sworn in on July 20th, 2009, you’re sadly mistaken and 100% wrong.

You need to BE your own president.

You need to BE your own government.

You need to BE your own office.

You need to BE your own company.

You need to BE your own country.

Am I making sense?

TODAY is the day that you DECIDE that you are going to change your life.

If you are sick and tired of being average and going unnoticed because of your scrawny and weak body – stop waiting for someone to do something about it and man up!

If you are fed up with your belly fat and not feeling your best about your body because you’re over weight – stop waiting for “the right time” and show me you’re serious with action – not words.

This is your January 22nd, no nonsense, no BS, motivational talk from me to YOU.  I want to see you take control of your life and I want to ask you, “How are you going to start running your government differently?”

How are you going to train in the gym today?

What are you going to eat for your next meal?

Who are you going to choose to hang out with today?

What are you going to read and put into your head?

What are you going to do with your next paycheck?

When are you going to, finally, DO what you said you would do?

How are you going to treat your next 120 days in office?

Perhaps you send me your before pictures, body measurements, weight and body % to enter my 12-week transformation challenge.  It’s not too late – you can send me your info today. ([email protected])

Perhaps you grab a copy of my muscle or fat loss program if you need fitness help.  It’s never too late to start.

I don’t care who you are.  I don’t care where you live in the world.  I don’t care how old you are and I don’t care what life has dealt you.

You have the ability to be your version of strong, muscular and confident.

You have the ability to be your version of lean, ripped and in world class shape.

You have the ability to attract the girl or guy of your dreams and be a role model to your friends and family.  You DO. You DO. You DO.

You have the ability to earn all the money to create your dream lifestyle.

You have the ability to be a “rock star” father, mother, grandpa, grandma, aunt, uncle, brother, sister or friend.

You have the ability to TRANSFORM your life and I strongly believe changing your physical office is the easiest and best place to start.

Today, YOU are going to ELECT yourself to be president of your life.  If you don’t then I just did 🙂  I just elected YOU to be the president for your office.  I just elected you to be the CEO of your company.

Now that you are president of your life, how are YOU going to make changes?

  1. Hey Vince, thanks for the note; I am on the home computer now, and can re-post my reply here. First, thanks for your message and all that you do. I feel I can look up to you and you do inspire me to become a better me.

You are 80% correct…change begins with us…we must work from the inside to change ourselves, then we become a manifestation outside of our inner world, which in turn “attracts” the things we want to us, to live out our potential in all areas of life. By nature, most of us are programed from an early age…it is not success or failure, but simply results. if the results are not satisfactory, then the cause within must be found and addressed. No one can do this for us.

I have talked with numerous people about this topic when attempting to engage them in considering their own businesses…it is frustrating that so many think that just because President Obama is our new leader, everything will just fall into place overnight. If one has negative thinking about themselves and their abilities and circumstances, this thinking must be undone from the inside. When I speak to people often and ask how they are…”well, under the circumstances…? I want to say, “what are you doing under there???? Come from under there and get on with it…” LOL.

Now, as for the 20%, I don’t agree with, President Obama was “ordained” to to do this job at this point and time in our history. In a way he is the “miracle worker for some, only in the sense that many of the African American people around the world have not been able to move forward because of the stigma attached to them in this country especially. Some have prospered in spite of it; others simply have not; it is what it is. I have many African American friends and it would fill a book to share all the stories I have heard.

You would not understand because this has not been your struggle; you could never see it and feel it as they do. I look around me at people who are in their 70’s and beyond; I cannot even begin to imagine what is going through their hearts and their minds. For youth I believe it can be inspiring and it is important that parents and grand-parents, and other leaders take the action required; to explain how this event has and will change some lives forevever.

Again, it still requires the work on the individual first, but I believe that now, there is a deeper realization that these people could develope a deeper feeling about themselves; a stronger belief in themselves, and how they relate to the world becuase of what happened on January 20th. When one truly believes, one acts; a different energy is radiated and all that is desired begins to appear.

You are obviously very popluar, you have your health, a perfect body, face, an extremely successful business model (which I hope to learn from you in my own endeavors,) you don’t have to “work” anywhere you don’t want to be; your “job” is what you love to do; it is directly related to who you are. It is always easier to speak with authority and confidence when one has achieved everything (or least on the right path) they want. Might there be some things you have not achieved? Perhaps, but I don’t know you so only you can answer that. Are there things I have not achieved yet…of course and there is more to learn. I would rather drive an old car down the road to success, than to sit and look at a new one in the driveway that says failure on the temporary license plate.

This was a great blog…thanks again for posting it.

  2. I like this post. I agree, OBAMA WILL NOT change my LIFE, He’s not going to take me to a 6figure income, he’s not going to raise my self esteem, he’s not going to drop 50lbs for me, he’s not going to change the hearts of those doing crimes on the streets. He’s not going to make it so I find the type of love life I want, he’s not going to empower the lower-middle class the ABILITY to amass wealth for themselves. All this said, I know that he will do his best to lead this country. I know he will work both parties to the best of his ability. and what he REPRESENTS, is what this great country has been about the whole time, the Land of Opportunity, where ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Not to erase the memory of our past history of bigotry, however, we our making progress into a more positive direction. THough I didn’t vote for him, I’m proud of this nation, and hope the best for the new direction of this country under his leadership.

and for those of you small-minded people who can’t stand another opinion than yours, or another thought, value, than yours, that you get highly offended, and unlist from a site about fitness of body, and MIND, I encourage you to do some personal growth. No one can offend you, without you giving them permission. = )

Keep up the good work Vincent!

  3. Opened a can of worms here didn’t you Vince. LOL I saw where you were going with this if readers read the whole thing. Obama is a big deal since our foreign policy for the last 8 years has been, well, wrong! Not only that, the deregulation’s here in the U.S. has allowed corporations to “run-a-muck” getting us into this insane recession. So, in a way, Obama is a very big deal, not to mention his skin color, a first in the White House!

Beyond that, yes, it will take each individual to change themselves, and we must all work together to make this country great again! 😉

  5. I meant to say one final comment. For anyone who has followed me the past 2.5 years online, you’ll know I’ve NEVER talked about politics, and yes, like everyone else I respect what President Obama has accomplished, but I also want to emphasize that I think that President Obama’s message is a message of hope that comes from people taking charge of their own lives, and so that is the spirit in which I wrote this “rant” as the majority interpreted correctly. Thanks for letting me share.

  8. I liked it Vince, I just want to tell everyone. The whole concept is to make the individual; that’s you, to make a decision to get up and motivate yourself and to take control of your own life, and every decision you make will eventually lead you to bettering yourself, and getting a grasp on your own reality know matter the situation, predicament, or who’s head of the country…… Stand up for yourself and set goals that you will meet and surpass in the future. Work your way up and never look back. Just remember you are in control of your life know one else. So make a change in it…
    Keep it up Vince, LATER

  9. Vince, I totally agree with what you said. Back in 2005 I took control of my health and totally changed my lifestyle. Then I was 225 pounds, wore a size 38 jeans and ate alot of junk. Today I’m wearing a size 33 jeans, exercise regularly and watch what I eat. I went to my nutritionist yesterday for a complete checkup on my BF% and measurements. Here’s the results; 193.4 Total Weight, 177.36 Lean Weight, and 16.04 Fat Weight for a BF% of 8.29%. Also had measurements taken and they are 16″ neck, 46 1/2″ chest, 32″ waist, and 24.5″ thighs along with 18 1/8″. This is what you get when you become your own CEO in total charge of your health and fitness. By the way, I’m closer to 60 than 59 and in as good or better shape than I was in highschool!

  11. If you’ve done nothing else with this post Vince you’ve opened up a debate….and a whole can of worms.

The fact of the matter is that nobody knows what President Obama will achieve, what his motives or intentions are. And in so many ways, right now, today, it doesn’t actually matter.

All we do know is that he has successfully managed to inspire a significant number of people to have hope that the future will be better, to be positive and to take action to improve their lives. All, pretty much with the power of the spoken and written word. That in itself, regardless of the man himself, is impressive and a lesson to be learnt.

What we say, how we say it and our conviction can impact others around us, for good and for bad.

Being careful with our terminology can really empower people. How are you helping others to find self empowerment today?

    All the best,
    Kirsty

  13. Dude. You are preaching to the choir! I could not agree more. I sat, albeit
very briefly, watching all of the hullabaloo, and listening to the left bent
media tell us how everything is going to be different. And watching millions
of sadsacks drink the cool-aid. The person that is going to change America
is staring straight at us in the mirror.

That statement is not an indictment on President Obama. If he serves as the
catalyst to help multiple millions of people reverse their rectal-cranial
inversion, and start being accountable for their own actions, then all the
    better.

But it is frightening to think that there are that many grown adults
thinking someone else is to blame for their plight, and that they have
no recourse to alter it, and that a changing of the political guard will
suddenly create the environment in which they can make sound personal,
    financial, marital, parental, religious, decisions.

    Great e-mail. Keep it up.

  18. hi vince,
i think you missed the point on this one! Obama’s inauguration was a historic event. considering the racism that existed in the past,he gives people hope. he sends a message that you can be what you want to be even if the odds are against you. he also inspires people to chase their dream, no matter what it is. people have got a right to celebrate and express themselves as they wish, it is a human right.
vince, we are all gifted with professions and we should stick to them. i think if you wanted to send a fitness message, it would have been wise to congratulate obama and gotten on with it. though i bet you would love to see some muscles on obama, wouldnt you? Well, we hope he has got political muscles . we wish him success!

we are all aware that charity begins at home, and that no mortal man can change the situation of things in this present system of things where injustice prevails.i really dont believe that obama can uproot violence and crime, but he can still make things better. my only hope is in JEHOVAH GOD,i strongly believe that sonnest the GOD of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin.
But i still think that using obama’s name to promote your product is still not the best approach.well better still, its your own strategy to promote your product.

  22. Dear Mr. DelMonte,
I never really answer emails like this, but after reading this one I felt a need to respond to it. First and above all I congratulate you on your personal achievements, you have come a long way, congrats. You have created a nice web based business and the information in it very accurate and valuable. I do think you are been prosperous, something a lot of people can not be at the present time and not because they did anything wrong. I have to tell you that from my perspective I know you intend well, (buy my product and use it to be healthy and strong) and it is a good product, I do see you do intend for people to improve. However I felt turned off (maybe felt my intelligence a little insulted) while reading your email. What does “Obama Mania” have anything to do with resistance training? Mixing politics with your real message just succeeded in degrading your message.
As for our President I can say that from the first day I heard him talk that he has been a messenger for reason. That is how I describe him – you could say A voice of reason. What no past enemy of this country has ever been able to achieve, some who call themselves “Americans” have succeeded in doing, and that is the almost complete destruction of the most powerful economy in the world. Very few are able to comprehend the situation that we are faced with and much less how we were driven into it. Greed, lack of ethics, criminality and not an ounce of patriotism is how I describe these individuals. They know who they are.
Your own business depends in that the “economy” (which translates into how well others are doing) does in the near future. Hopefully for the sake of your prosperity and survival and prosperity and survival of the rest of us, our President and his new Cabinet can put in place new policies that can get us out and keep us out of this mess. You really have to have guts to walk into a Presidency where the house is in shambles.
The last thing I want to say is that the communists had a saying: “the capitalists will manufacture the rope with which they will hang themselves”. Now we know what they meant.
    Respectfully,
    Tony Ayala.

  23. You have just opened up a forum for a lot of prejudiced bigoted white people to voice their one-sided racist opinions. Who is saying that Obama will not do any good for the country? He has not even been in office to do anything yet! I get so sick of people who use any excuse to spout a bunch of evil racist crap! All of the perfect people who were there in the past did nothing but ruin things for all Americans, so whatever Obama does couldn’t possibly be anywhere near as bad as what they’ve done. If he was white we wouldn’t hear any of this crap!!!!

  24. I am not looking to any man to make things right in my life. Most men can’t make things right in their own life. Obama will hopefully be able to correct some things, but he cannot do miracles. I know there are a lot of people who don’t want him in office, but he’s there now, so the negative comments need to stop. When will some people get beyond the race thing? There have always been “other” men in the white house who have done nothing but send the US down the drain. I pray that our country will at least keep it’s head above water over the next few years, no matter who the Presdent is!

I usually enjoy your informative insights into healthy living, but this issue was a total waste of time and effort.
Obama seeks to make the country a better place in which to live, he’s not trying to make us all physically fitter. Please stick your areas of expertise(of which you are knowledgeable), and leave outlandish statements to clowns like Rush Limbaugh.

Your emails charge me with energy to change my life and influence me quite a bit. After reading this blog I feel like getting out and taking charge of my life and being my own independent government capable of achieving anything.

Hopefully Obama can fix a lot of worldly problems but he can’t fix everyone’s lives individually. I live in Australia but obviously I’m interested in Obama and how we will change America, but that’s all it is, an interest, he won’t change my life.

    Cheers,

p.s I’m soon starting the Master Cleanse which you recommended in one of your previous emails, very excited about the benefits.

It is only about 40 years since he would have had to sit at the back of a segregrated bus and now, whatever other mistakes we, as humans have made, he has the opportunity to be the figurehead/icon for a new generation.
As always, every person has to be responsible for him/herself, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that everyone has the opportunity to do whatever they want. Just a few short years ago they did not.
So, don’t expect Obama to solve all your problems, but DO rejoice in the fact that he was elected.

  30. Obama WILL CHANGE OUR LIVES
Remember Robert Mugabe in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe)?
Remember Nelson Mandella in South Africa?
    Remember the jubilation, the euphoria?
Remember how they would change their nations?
    They DID change their nations.
They dispossessed the whites. They murdered and continue to murder the whites. The Afrikaaners (Dutch Boers) have been thrown out of their jobs to be given to the blacks. Whites go hungry in the slums of South Africa.
Zimbabwe and South Africa are crime ridden, impoverished nations. They changed the lives of whites for the worse. Obama is Change. Change for the worse.
I hope I did not offend anyone. But this is stark, chilling fact.
I sincerely hope I am wrong about Obama’s future for the hated white male Christian.

  31. Hi Vince

Here is an article I recently wrote on a subject similar to what you are talking about. Would you please consider putting it on your blog. I have many more of these type of articles under my name Carolyn Hansen on ezine articles.

I care deeply about what is happening on our planet and am interested in getting top health and fitness people together with the view of making changes that get people taking responsibility for their own health.

I have put my resource box on the bottom of the article and my personal email is [email protected]
    I welcome feedback and comments.

Our Destiny Involves Each of Us Taking Responsibility for Our Own Health

We have reached a stage in our development as human beings that we need to make some important decisions regarding our health and well-being. Maybe it is time that we take some of the focus on this constant development of technology and focus on our very own health.

Almost all of the activity in daily life has been removed, we have to do absolutely nothing to collect food, keep warm and have shelter. Our enemies are ones we have created ourselves such as cars on the roads and our chronic worldwide serious health problems that are on the verge on becoming epidemic.

It is a fact that one out of every two people on this planet has a chronic disease or illness and many have multiple conditions. Two thirds of us are overweight or obese and others feel lousy, are tired, worn out and are mistaking living for merely existing.

Is the connection not apparent between these two factors – lack of activity and chronic disease? How could such an intelligent collection of people allow this to happen?

Children being born now are predicted to have a shortened life span of between 20-30 years. Shame on us for leaving them a legacy such as this.

Every one of us is touched by this, we all have people that we know around us becoming sick and dying before our very eyes (many long before their time) yet no one does anything about it. The people in the “sickness treatment system” do not mention the fact that our bodies need a certain amount of physical activity to stay healthy and well as opposed to drugs and treatments after symptoms of sickness appear.

Our bodies are hardwired and programmed for hard physical activity to allow us to survive in the harshest of conditions. Our prehistoric genes do not know that the fridge in the next room is full of food and that we have cars to take us from A to B. These genes do not know that we need to sit and do nothing for almost every waking moment each day.

You see it is only with intense vigorous activity that the necessary chemical reactions take place that tell every cell, tissue, organ and system in the human body to repair, rebuild and renew itself. Without this happening on a constant basis there is no way that we can stay healthy and well.

Is our financially driven “sickness system” behind this, is it that lots of sick people are needed to keep feeding this money sucking monster? This system has nothing to do with health and everything to do with sickness. A sickness-based system does not provide or promote health, statistics show the health of the global population has steadily declined since World War II.

The fitness/exercise industry is being flooded with sick, desperate people looking for solutions. Whose job is it to help people stay well? Incredibly powerful money motivated forces are preventing people from taking control of their own health by withholding the information and solutions to keep people healthy.

Who allows the pretty boxes of so called food in the supermarkets full of dirt cheap ingredients that offer little or nothing in the way of nutrition? This is actually encouraging people to gain weight and become unhealthier.

These forces that control our food sources and “health” care are so powerful that nothing short of a revolution will be able to stop them and that is what must happen.

A much greater awareness must be created in each of us that recognize the importance of the environment, the quality of our food, and the quality of our health. This new way is called wellness and can be defined as living to the best of ones potential and is more than the absence of disease.

It involves taking personal responsibility for one’s health, taking positive steps to avoid disease and living a lifestyle that promotes health, strength, fitness, vigor, and energy. Wellness means practicing self care by the use of proper strength building exercise, eating well and taking care of your top life priorities, your health. Rather than living your life slowly going downhill, losing strength and energy until sickness finally catches up with you.

The emerging wellness industry is as much a reaction to the dictatorship of the sickness and the food industries as it is to every person’s desire for the freedom, good health and longevity that wellness can offer. Each one of practicing wellness is the next natural step forward in our destiny and in the advancement of mankind.

  33. Well, well, well I guess its my time. A lot of dumb SHEEP were conned into voting for this idiot but, as all will find out he is not going to be able to do all he says. The way I look at it by his selection of officers all he is trying to do for the present is to be re-elected ( just a clinton want-a-be). He will be nothing but a puppet and if the US population are stupid enough to re-elect this puppet who was financed by dirty money, to start with, then they will get just what they asked for. The republicans will be alot more wiser the next time around. As far as I’m concerned there will be alot of trash that they will try to ram right down our throats and all this will do is divide and split this country in half because by that time the fence sitters will have to choose their side.

  37. I agree with you that Obama is not going to change or save the world. Only we can. We make up our own little economy. If everyone did the right thing then we might not be so bad off and I include the ceo’s of companies. I do however think he might instill some positiveness and values into our world. But again like the old saying you can lead a horse to water…..we have to all individually be responsible and not depend on someone doing it all for us.

  41. That was the best segue yet! I’ve been keeping an eye on my inbox looking for the best use of currently hot search terms & social memes. You win the prize.

You are correct of course, Obama isn’t going to change things. All the ills we are facing now, will still be central to the public discourse in two years, four years, and 15 years. Mark Twain was right when he said “There is no native criminal class except Congress.”

The message people should take away is about locus of control. As individuals, we need to reach down deep within ourselves and “find a pair.” If you want something badly enough, you will find a way to make it happen.

People do what they want to do, whether it’s finding a way to get an education, or finding a way to lose weight, or finding a way to build a chiseled body. OR…finding a way to get home from work in time to flop down on the couch and watch “american idol” (which drew a bigger audience than Big O’s inauguration).

Of course, there is always the danger that if you find and internalize your locus of control, you might become…*gasp*…self sufficient (for the uninitiated, that’s like being a Libertarian).

  45. First of all Vince it’s “PRESIDENT OBAMA” due respect dude. You know Vince I totally agree that President Obama is not the world’s fix it all and that we have to take control over our own destiny. President Obama is not the “Black Knight” in shining armor, but he provides hope for a sick world. A world that was screwed up by the outgoing president. I for one am not looking towards President Obama for anything other than honesty and to lead the country with the best interest of the people in mind…the people that placed him there, that’s it. I am in total control of my life and I plan to keep it that way. But I detest a lying theft. Anyway…nice way to promote your product.

But I’ve got some pretty bad news for you. No matter how much you try you won’t be able to change your own life anyway. This kind of government won’t let you to get rich and they’re already talking about national Sunday laws to be enforced, just like it’s already happening in European countries. You’d be surprised how closely the White House is working with the Vatican… including many of their secret meetings and plans. Have you heard the term, “New World Order”, that’s what our Presidents have been mentioning in their speeches. Obama called it, “New Age!” With each new set up “terrorism” attack we loose our freedoms. Today anybody can be arrested without a right to a lawyer and be tortured secretly and disappear from this planet without any explanation. Today it’s become legal for the our government to listen to our phone calls and emails and survailance cameras etc. It’s not getting any better! And no matter how bad you try to get rich and famous… it’s gonna get harder.
    Enjoy life:)

  49. Vince,

You are a darling, a hottie and i wish my boyfriend looked like you ….BUT…you are wrong. Yes we all need to play a role in our own lives…but the people who lead you or lead a ‘world power’ affect you. You speak like someone living in a First World Country. For example,I live in a Third World country and we see injustices, inhumanities, we are suffering in debt and Obama’s policy on debt forgiveness on Third world countries will seriously benefit our country which will now be able to focus making better social policies for our country instead of paying out debt made by a governing body decades ago. That Prime Minister of our country years ago ,that agree to those debt conditions changed our lives aka standard of living. We all can make changes and Obama is in a great position to change lives.
Great debate though, Vince! Perhaps you can change Obama’s life and give him a great training programme.hehe.BTW…arent you promising to change lives with your workout programme?

  51. Obama isn’t going to change America but, America has changed. No, our new president will not change how you feel about yourself. He will not motivate you to get off you tush and change your body. He will not help you eat right. What Obama has done is teach me and many Americans what I already knew; we as Americans are ready to overcome the fact that we all look different and that it doesn’t matter our appearance, or capabilities are based on our capabilities.

With that said, our appearance does matter. Successful people are fit. The more fit you are, the more successful you will be. Now if you are a complete tool and fit, you will still be successful but in a limited way. To be truly successful you not only have to be fit but real. Yeah I said it. To make it in this life you need to combine love for yourself with love for others. Love for oneself alone is narcissistic. True love for oneself naturally turns to love for others.

We can all change the world; one life at a time. It is time to take responsibility for ourselves and in the process learn how to pass on our triumphs and defeats to others.

Every single new president is warmly welcome, but once he’s doing his job he sucks as the others, that’s why I hate politics, I don’t have racism issues, in fact I love everysingle kind of people, all the spirit of his followers is that he’s a colour man and that’s a great change for them… gee, they think he’s going to change the world cuz’ he’s a brother and he’s gonna be nicer… well then, if he’s going to change that, why does he mention that a brother is better… that’s racism too right…? Shit, by now I don’t give a damn about it… of course it’s me who next to the others who can make the change, not one single person… I don’t believe that… that’s what a peruvian guy thinks…

  55. Vince,

Well said! You are exactly right. People need to stop relying on others for help to get out of situations that they put themselves in.

I have the belief that people create their own destiny. If you truly believe you will successful and work hard, you will succeed. With fitness success you also need to believe in yourself and do the work yourself. Someone else will not and cannot do it for you.

What I do not understand is that people hope he will help them. President Obama believed in himself and worked hard, therefore earned the position he is in now. We need to look more at him as inspiration which he can provide as opposed to someone that is perceived to solve all problems, which he cannot do.

While I did not vote for him, he does have some inspirational qualities that everyone can look at.

    Keep up the good work.

  57. Of course Obama cannot change people’s lives! But he can change the environment in which they live. I am sure many people did not think that fmr. Pres. Bush and his administration wouldn’t change their lives, but he did change the environment in which they live, for the worst. You aren’t American or live in America, and Obama being elected is more significant that just him becoming president. If you know american history you would know that. And I believe that is why people are so excited.

I am disappointed that you used the excitement of America’s politics to attract attention to your blog. It looks hypocritical, because you say you aren’t normally political.

What you have said is true, but it should have been said and could have been said without reference to Obama. Do you really think people are that naive?

I very much appreciate your motivational videos and blog comments.

Since signing up for your program the first of the year I’ve taken some life changing actions. I now get up at 3:45AM to go to the gym, using your suggested workout routines and timing sequences. I purged my kitchen cabinets of 5 huge bags of groceries. They were all pasta’s, potatoes, and other ‘garbage’ foods that were not going to help in my effort to get to perfect fitness. I”m eating extremely healthy now and lean (lot’s of protein). My weight was at 218, the most I have ever weighed. My goal is to be at 178 by May 1st. I”m also now opening my office at 7AM getting much more work done thanks tyo your super job of reminding me to “Take Charge’ of my Life. 61. i agree that obama cannot change our lives. He can be an inspiration and example, but he himself is a great example of what you are motivating people to do Vince, and that is, not make excuses for their bad situation, and do whatever we can to take charge of our lives….to take steps forward, whatever they might be to improve our quality of life.

There are unique situations where some people who have been abused and hurt and taken advantage of, need help, and we ought to be there to provide that help, especially those who are ‘the have’s’ in this world. Let’s use our wealth if we have any to serve humanity by helping them to become self sufficient. Following your ‘rant’ will only help people to go forward and not stay stuck in a miserable existence.

  62. Very well said, I’m glad someone actually brought out the truth. I’m so tired of people dependiong on other people to do take care of them; GOd put us here by our selves and gave us free will, and expected us to take care of ourselces! For the people that are blessed with having two or even one parent to teach them values, they are suposed to go out and try to do better than there parents did. Thats all that anyones parents should want, not for them to be expecting handouts all the freakin’ time! Sorry I just deal twith people like this about 14 hours a day everyday, and am REALLY tired of it. Its unbelievibly suprising how many people voted for him that I talked to “just because of his skin.” I don’t judge on skin color but I do judge on being realistic about issues. If someone really thinks that one person can change america, well thats a sad sad person, and they really don’t have any sort of clue how the government works. Anyway like you said, if you want change, or like the old saying goes If you want something done right DO IT YOURSELF. Its the only way to make sure its done the right way; and people stop asking for a hand out, its really pathetic.

Sorry if I offended anyone, and if I did then you are the one that really needs to change the most. Lets have a great day and a better tomorrow.

Oh and by the way vince your program rocks, I’ve gained like almost a whole shirt size in just like 3 weeks. Well my shirts actually fit now. Thanks man!

  63. Thankfully i’m not american and i don’t look at a lot of media so i’ve spared my self the hype that i keep hearing about. So looking at this from my perspective i agree you can’t rely on others to make changes for you – which is what i see vince saying. However from a political perspective i have to at least partially disagree with vince. See the way i see it is governments can’t make changes for you, but they are critical for creating a community where change can occur. Think of it this way you live in a family that is fit and healthy and your not. Do you think it’s going to be easier achieving your goals in that environment or in one where everyone else is unhealthy and there’s constantly temptations in front of you? So you say move out of that environment, great so does one move from their country too? Also lets consider the global financial issues right now, it’s easy to say well only you have the power to change your circumstance setting performance goals etc. But how did we get into this situation in the first place? By people, executives, banks etc setting goals to make more money, more growth they are after all the only ones that have the power to make their business bigger, stronger etc. But yet what position does that put everyone else? Is it making it easier or harder for other people to achieve their goals?

I therefore see a government as a personal trainer, end of the day your results are yours alone, but to have a great personal trainer can make achieving fitness goals all the quicker and easier. On that note i hope Obama is able to deliver changes that will help people and not hinder people from achieving their goals.

    Regards

  66. Hi Vince

I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying. Following on from your Obama points, I’d like your views and you may want to drop it into your blog about “The Hudson Miracle”…ie the plane coming down in the Hudson river. I got more and more agitated reading reports that it was a miracle and to be quite honest I’m surpsrised that ‘Obama’ wasn’t flying the plane.

I suppose the point I’m trying to make is that it doesn’t take much education to realise the one thing that saved all those lives on the Hudson river was the pilots and crews training, expertise and professionalism. (I mean there was hardly a splash as it touched the river) One area where this can be adapted to your life; train with the right education and expertise and you too can work “miracles”.

  67. One thing that everyone shoud have learned from their parents, or in school before the 5th grade, is that the only one that can ever change their world is that one person that you are in constant contact with……….and that person is yourself. No on is going to make your decisions for you, decide what to wear, decide what you will eat, or how to get through life in order to eat, have a roof over your head, and the knowledge to get somewhere in life. That applies to the gym, those you care for, and who you want to care about you.

This is simply the socialization process. There are many that never complete education, as if anyone ever does before they die, and it takes time to realize that. However, one should always help others in this quest, as just that person may be the one that will help you see from a different point of view, the other important things in life that you might have missed.

One should never pass another and not say “hello”, or get in the gym and not offer to help someone. All they can say is “no”, or just ignore you. If that happens, then they are the ones that miss out on meeting someone that might be vital to their existence. Always continue to THINK, and hope that another someone does also.

  69. VInce,

Nice to see how the guy who disagreed so strongly with you wasn’t brave enough to leave his real name.

I can’t remember which SF story or book it was, but as a throwaway comment, it said the leaders of that particular society were chosen for a. their abilities b. their lack of desire to do the job.

The job was mandatory and you had to stick at it until you did a good job. Kinda funny and probably better than giving power to the people who actually seek it.

Bill Hicks (or was it George Carlin?) had it right when he said the very last people who should be allowed to rule the country are the ones who actually want to.

  71. Hey Vince,

I am a black, low-income, single-mother, and I agree with you on this one. Many Americans (especially African-Americans) have placed their hope in Obama as if it is within his power to save our nation from its woes. I hear it and see it every day. People drive around with Obama HOPE bumper stickers on their cars; Obama T-shirts, tote bags, lip balm, and air freshener (air freshener?!). He is a modern day icon; yet, human like the rest of us. Yes, he is our president and deserves the respect of the office; but personally, I place my hope in the soveriegnty of God.

So, you’re right. It would be unwise to sit around waiting to see what Obama is going to do for us. While his actions can impact our quality of life (to an extent), as individuals, we must be proactive, responsible, and willing to be accountable for our own actions (or inaction). We must put forth the effort necessary to ensure our own personal health and well being, and work collaboratively with our families and within our communities as we endure these challenging times. After all, the preamble to our constitution begins “We the People”, not “our government”. OK, enough politics.

On a health and fitness note, I’m taking it one day at a time. I am down to 240 pounds from 255 pounds since December 26th and feeling pretty good. If I miss a workout because of my crazy schedule, I do not beat myself up. I feel if I can, day-by-day, commit to eating clean, I am doing well. I’m averaging 2 to 3 workouts a week, and building to 5. I am also working at being more consistent with my water consumption.

So, that’s my two cents. =)

  73. Hi Vince
Loved your motivational talk. Very good. I agree with everything Mona said above. Nobody can change me! I have to do it on my own. Of course the president can’t change all our lives. That is impossible, we have to get up and start doing things on our own.

I live in South Africa but also got caught up in all the excitement re the new president. Awesome. And I hope he will do a great job. But he can’t change everyone in the world. It has to start with ME.

Great article Vince. Will print it and read it over and over for inspiration. I am president of my life.

To all Americans, hope a great future awaits you all.

  74. I’ve been loving all the celebration around our new president…

And I totally get what you’re saying here too.

I also can tell that you weren’t doing this out of spite AT ALL…

You just wanted to speak out as a voice of reason and remind everyone that they need to take action if they want to say any change happen in their lives.

Obama’s not going to do it FOR us.

It comes down to action. Our action.

If you’re not paying attention, you could listen to Obama’s message and start assuming that everyone else is going to be doing the work to change things for you…

All these 2 million excited people standing out there in D.C…

    But they’re not.

    You gotta get involved.

You gotta show up in life.

And any inspiration or enthusiasm we’ve generated during the inauguration news, we can channel that toward ourselves and our goals…

So that we can become the president of our own lives as Vince said. 🙂

    Changes begins with us.

Really, really well done here, Vince. I’m super impressed.

  76. “How are you going to start running your government differently?”

By getting going! My own incentive for fitness gain is to avoid big, bloated medical care structures that take too long to deliver services. Get fit, stay fit, cross the streets with care and hopefully you’ll never end up at the mercy of centralized medicine.

I have nothing against Obama as such, but would someone please turn off the cult machine?

  78. I’m kind of disappointed Vince. I think you should have left politics alone on this one. You let idiots like “shirteesdotnet” post on your blog with ignorance. Didn’t expect this from you dude. It kills me how people could be so judgmental.

Regardless what your political persuasion is I think you don’t give the American people credit. People have lost homes, jobs, families to the war, self esteem and confidence. People just need something to hold on to. We all know he is not a “Savior”. We all know he is not a “Miracle Worker” or he is going to “Change the world”. But at least we can hope that we all can go in a better direction than the last 8 years. Very easy to roll those words off your tongue when your well off. I think your decision to use this historic occasion as way to mimic people feelings of Obama for your personal gain is done in poor taste and speaks volumes of your character.

I have unsubscribed from all your lists and let my friends know who also promote your product on twitter to read this post and make their own decision.

  79. Obama by himself cannot change your world, my world or anyone’s world. But he is a public figure and because of that has a great opportunity to lead by example…and through changing is own world he can influence the planet and inspire us to change ours.

I agree we are all president of our life. Actually I prefer the term goddess 🙂

And it goes far beyond our physical bodies. WE are in charge of our work, health, relationships, where we live, what we do for fun, who we hang out with, and – this is a big one – what we think.

Mindset is everything….get your mind in shape and everything else will follow, naturally.

Keep up the great work….you rock!

  80. I get what you are saying here and I absolutely agree. We need to stop looking at the Government for the answers because truth be told… no matter what form of government it is… they are still the worst business in the world. They cannot balance their budgets… they make up ridiculous regulations and rules. And yet, we are supposed to believe they have all the answers?

Well, I can point to the mid-20th century for those who expect the government to have all the answers… U.S.S.R… Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Maoist China. Tons of people placed their faith on complete governmental control and lost their lives.

Instead, we need to be responsible for our own results and success and stop looking at the government for the answers. They simply don’t have it.

Thanks for remind me Vince… Peace out.
