5-Ways I Beat Vegas & Came Home More Ripped

By Vince On October 21, 2009 2 Comments

How I Beat Las Vegas (actually I slapped it in the face)

1. Be FLEXIBLE.

Normally I would train on Thursday but I made it a OFF day because of the 14-hour travel day and I KNEW I would have no interest in training as soon as I land and have friends texting my phone to meet up.

I had to adjust my training week to make this happen but it worked out perfectly knowing that I would train Friday morning and Saturday morning.

2. Prepare to SACRIFICE.

You can’t have it all. Stay up late, eat like a King, enjoy some “beverages”, train and come back just as ripped as I left - not going to happen. So instead of doing the club’s in the evening I suggested we hit a show for a change. This resulted in saving some money, not waking up with blood shot eyes, going to bed at a reasonable time, and being able to train at 7am the next morning before our 9am meeting. I did this Friday and Saturday morning - yes, in Vegas! I know - I’m different :)

3. Set Yourself Up For Accountability.

My favorite part about Vegas is the FOOD - it’s a bodybuilders heaven with all the world-class restaurants and service so when our table was ordering appetizers I knew I needed to announce to my friends BEFORE the weekend got started that “I’m dieting” right now. If I reached for the bread basket my buddy would say, “Aren’t you dieting?” That’s called setting yourself up for accountability. I hate letting myself down so this works for me 80% of the time (No, I’m not perfect).

4. Plan A Fast Day.

Whether I’m cutting or bulking I have been scheduling a 24-hour fast day once every two weeks to re-set my metabolism, break craving and naturally cleanse. My only personal tweak is that I have a whey-isolate protein shake (Precision) with 10 grams of BCAA’s (from Blue Star Nutrition) in the morning before I start.

I find it easier to use a “all-or-nothing” approach, especially when I’m in the airport and the majority of my fast days happen in the airport since I travel 2-3x a month. I ended up spending $24 on WATER by the end of my 12-hour travel day but came home leaner and tighter and totally on track to my photo shoot in 4 weeks. I will say - AIRPORT FOOD PRICES ARE A SIN!

5. Keep A Bigger Perspective.

I know people will say, “Come on Vince… this is extreme!” Extreme results require extreme measures. Vegas isn’t going anywhere and right now “going crazy” isn’t one of my priorities so I had to make Vegas work into MY priorities instead of letting my circumstances win over my priorities. I had to also remind myself that I was NOT on vacation. This was business and just because business took place in “temptation-island” doesn’t mean you get an excuse to give in. Sure, your out-of-shape friends won’t give a rip but how will YOU feel about your decisions?

Let me tell you, the more you give in, the easier it becomes to give in next time. Next weekend I’m off to Orlando for 8-days so this past weekend was a good mental-prep.
How Do You Stay Focused?

One thing: You’ve truly got to be IN LOVE with the bodybuilding lifestyle. 100% commitment is required. Divorce or “taking some time apart” is NEVER an option if you truly want to get the most out of your body. You genuinely enjoy eating healthy, pushing your body, talking fitness, reading about fitness and sharing your passion with others. It needs to become NATURAL which is why you always hear, “It’s a lifestyle.”
Will You Be In Tampa Florida This January?

Did you pick up your ticket for the ground-breaking event that myself and 14 other famous fitness authors and coaches have joined forces on? A 3-day weekend called Transformation Domination LIVE. It’s being hosted by my good friend and fellow fitness author Joel Marion.

It takes place in Tampa Florida this January 16-18th and will be an unforgettable experience for all of those who join us, but I need to let you know there are now less than 24 hours left to save $145.49 on the cost of the weekend with the “Buy One, Get One Half Off” special discount ending tonight.

If you haven’t visited the site to check out the speaker line-up and all the cool things we have planned for you, you owe it to yourself to at least check it out!

The Bad and Ugly of 12-Week Fitness Contests

By Vince On September 7, 2009 3 Comments

12-week fitness transformation contests have been incredibly one of the best ways to motivate you to get into great shape.

But there is an ugly side to some of these contests…

Not everyone follows through and completes the transformation contest.

Many people are uncomfortable taking their before  and after photos and embarrassed to share those pictures with the rest of the world.

People who enter transformation contests that run for 12 weeks seem to fall into one of three categories:

  • * Drop outs
  • * Rebounders
  • * Winners

1) 90% entered the contest, but they lost motivation before it was even over. They DROPPED OUT and usually felt bad about themselves afterward. They felt like failures or worse… they were devastated and became indifferent about fitness by adopting an “I don’t care anymore” attitude (the most harmful attitude you can have).

2) 7% would say the contest was exactly the kick in the butt they needed to focus their energies for 3 months. In 12 weeks, they got in great shape, maybe even the best shape of their lives. But when the contest ended, they lost motivation, they lost their physical peak and they REBOUNDED so fast, it was painful to watch.

3) 3% of the people got more motivated than they’d ever been before. The 12-week contest was the catalyst for a long term life change. They got in the best shape of their lives and they stayed in shape afterwards. All the people in this top 3% group were WINNERS, even if only one person could win the contest.

  • What’s the difference between these people?
  • What must you do to be in the top 3%?
  • How can you achieve your short term goals, and make those results stick?

Build The Body Women Want

By Vince On August 10, 2009 82 Comments

Am I right or wrong? Men are obsessed with sex and looking good to women.  Layout 1

A recent study I read said that sex was central to a man’s happiness.

Money came a close second, but sexual activity was the strongest predictor of happiness - the more sex, the greater the happiness.

I have noticed that many successful men are extremely methodical about their careers and personal finances but not so much “on the ball” when it comes to improving their sexual attractiveness to women.

I think men have a general idea, like we discovered in the last post, but not as sure as they would prefer.

We know that women like fit and athletic-looking men and shun guys “too big” or who are fat slobs, but that’s about it. I’ve seen some pretty attractive women with guys who look like skinny marathon runners and others with guys who would be classified in the “Mr Olympia” category.

As I shared in my last post, I believe men need at least 20-30 pounds of new muscle mass to attract women.

But in reality, we don’t know 100%.

Until today… we are bridging the gap.

What Does A Woman REALLY Want?

By Vince On August 3, 2009 158 Comments

As a man, can you imagine what it could be like to actually know what a woman wants in terms of physical moist-girlattraction?

I’ll admit it first, and I bet you can relate that it’s next to impossible to figure out what kind of a physique woman are REALLY attracted too.

Do I sound frustrated?  Yep.

I’ve dated girls, when I was 170 pounds 5% body fat and I’ve dated girls when I was 205 pounds 5% body fat and both groups of girls said, “I was perfect!”

Were they afraid to hurt my feeling?

Which group of girls were fudging the truth?

I will never TRULY know but I think I’m pretty darn close to knowing…

Just like you, I want the right look that every one of my buddies respects and that every woman finds attractive, especially my girlfriend :)

We all KNOW it exists but the question remains:

How Much Muscle Do You Need To Be
More Appealing Than Others?

To date, I have not figured out the exact number but I’m starting to see that “bigger” is not definitely better.

I do know that staying skinny is not the answer either, no girl wants to be with a guy who can’t protect her or is skinner than she is…

In fact, a recent Harvard study down in 2000 revealed that most men overestimate the amount of muscle that they think is necessary to peak attraction in a woman by an jaw dropping 30 pounds!

What Does That Mean To You?exile-swede1

Consider this good news!

The widespread “bigger is better” mantra spread in bodybuilding magazines is false information.  Don’t get the wrong impression here but check this out…

FACT: Studies show that Playgirl models
display MORE muscle mass and lower body
fat levels than in years past!

So don’t use this post as an excuse for slacking at the gym or becoming content.

You will drive girls more crazy or get more action from your significant other by having a top-notch physique.

Make NO mistake about that.

Without looking at you I’m guessing you could start hooking up with the hottest girl (assuming you’re not a douche bag) by adding at least 20-30 pounds of muscle mass to your current frame.

If you answer YES to at least one of these question below then I’m confident in saying you should shoot for an extra 20-30 pounds of muscle.

  • Are you really satisfied with being a total “average Joe”?
  • Are you embarrassed of taking off your shirt in public?
  • Are you intimidated by men who are in better shape than you?
  • Would an attractive woman be turned on by your body, or just laugh?
  • Are you the type of “man” who just “dreams” about achieving something great?

If you answered “yes” then you’re not alone and it’s not too late.

How Did I Arrive At The Number?

Simple.  As soon as I added my first 21.5 pounds of muscle in the first 30 days, that’s when I started getting dates.

I should clarify - hot dates - for the first time in my life!

That is YOUR goal: 20-30 pounds of rock-hard mass in the next 4-6 months.  That will require you to gain at least 5 pounds of muscle a month which I am prepared to teach you in my book:

http://www.VinceDelMonteFitness.com

Since I wrote, No Nonsense Muscle Building, there is no need to dream of a muscular body that turns heads…today is the time to make it happen.

There is no need to be skeptical, my system will work better than any creatine or muscle-gain product you could try instead (for the same price).

My book is better than anything short of “the juice.”

Imagine how good you will feel about yourself when you finally have the confidence to approach any woman you spot in your class, on a night out, in the grocery store or in the gym (although I don’t recommend approaching girls in the gym).

And just think… you could be dating the girl of your dreams in the next 30 days (or re-energizing your current relationship)!

Within the first 30 days of using No Nonsense Muscle Building, you’re embarrassingly small body parts will be replaced with rock-solid muscle making your body look like an Armour suit.

I can promise that you will no longer feel embarrassed to take your shirt off in public. Imagine the sense of pride you will have as everyone at the local swimming pool turns to look as you take off your shirt, revealing your new, ripped, muscular physique.

Of course, if you’re happy with a weak, baby-soft body, go ahead and don’t do anything now and continue attracting average looking woman that you’ll never really be happy with.

Avoid The Freshman 15 & Gain 15 Pounds Of Muscle Instead

By Vince On August 2, 2009 3 Comments

If you’re a college or University student, you could easily become the victim of the Freshman 15, even if you’re a skinny guy! The Freshman 15 is the popular phenomenon that refers to weight gain that’s a direct result of college life.

And it’s not JUST common to females, so listen up if you’re a male.

As a Personal Trainer near a local University and college I consulted with dozens of frustrated guys destroying their freshmen year by packing on dozens of pounds of fat - instead of muscle!

In a moment I’ll share the EXACT 6 REASONS you have NO EXCUSE to gain muscle, instead of fat while in college (or even high school).

Avoid The Freshmen 15

I have witnessed dozens of skinny guys develop the “Skinny-Fat Syndrome” which is a instant turn off to all the gorgeous girls on campus. And I’ve witnessed dozens of fat guys LITERALLY became the wide student body which is equally bad!

I know how University is from personal experience.

7 Tricks To Your Best Workout EVER

By Vince On April 23, 2009 28 Comments

I can’t count how many emails I get that look like this:

“Vince, I have a hard time staying motivated while I work out in the gym.  I can’t seem to stay focused and often feel like I’m wasting my time and not getting the best workout in.  Is there a supplement I should be taking or do you have any advice to fix this”

Photobucket

I understand how frustrating it can be to feel like you’re spending time in the gym, instead of investing time in the gym.  It’s a deflating feeling and can leave you with that depressing lump in your throat.

I have gone through short-term slumps where I just can’t get into it and it’s a crappy feeling especially when you’re not looking or feeling your best.

Here are some tips on how to crash through these quitting points!

1. Buddy Up.

Schedule your workouts with a workout partner who has similar goals as yourself and who inspires you and motivates you to work harder.  A good workout partner will push you slightly beyond your limits and keep the flow of the workout going by avoiding chitter-chatter.  The best workout partners can give you feedback on your technique, arrive to the gym on time and ensure you give each set 100% effort.

2. Treat Yourself To an Ipod.

If you alrready have an iPod, stock up on some brand new music that gets you fired up. I’m not afraid to admit that I might be too reliant on my own iPod but I don’t mind because it ensures I get an intense workout each time.  Music gets you into a rythym and flow earlier on to carry you to the end of your workout.  Popping on some ear phones also tells other members to leave you alone and blocks out back ground noise that can be distracting.
