Joey Vaillancourt Video Transformation…

By Vince On April 19, 2009 Under Muscle Building Secrets, Training Supplements

On December 28th I announced The Biggest Gainer Challenge specifically for male or female hardgainers. The deadline for all submissions is July 1, 2009 and I’ll be awarding the top success stories to a trip in Cancun Mexico! The only catch is that you have to provide me with video documentation of your progress.

In this blog, I am going to introduce you to one of the competitors, Joey Vaillancourt who started out as a reader of my stuff, customer and then success story. As you’ll see and hear in the video, Joey is determined to win the entire contest unless you want to challenge him for the crown. :)

Joey just submitted two inspirational pieces as an example of what I’m looking for to be considered a contender for the trip to Cancun, Mexico. You can send your entire video transformation as one piece on July 1st or you can send it to me every 4 weeks with updates. Take a moment watch Joey’s video transformation so far:

Vince: What motivates you the most to get ripped? Joey: I am always very motivated by keeping the end results in my mind. I enjoy hearing compliments and comments on my physique transformation from people who have not seen me for a while. The “challenge” is enough to motivate me to push myself to my limits to getting into the best shape of my life.

Vince: What’s your biggest obstacle been so far?

Joey: Spending time with friends I had made before getting involved in fitness. Our lifestyles are now completely different.

Vince: What is the biggest mistake you see guys your age making in the gym?

Joey: Lifting weights beyond what they are capable of as well as using improper form while performing their sets. That and talking on their cell phones while exercising.

Vince: How have you stayed focused and avoided all the confusion from other sources of info?

Joey: I made a point to not try and find answers from different sources. It can get very confusing. I found a program that was designed for exactly what I wanted to accomplish and I followed that plan.

Although separately, many programs will work, if you try and combine different theories it can backfire big time as they might contradict each other. There is no “perfect” program, so find one that fits your goals and start following that plan.

Vince: What is your number one training tip to build muscle?

Joey: Nutrition: Treat eating as a training session! Eating 6-8 big “clean” meals a day is hard sometimes. Accept it and do it. Training: Always have a plan before heading into the gym and be sure that your plan applies the progressive overload principle in any form (reps, sets, rest periods etc).

Tracking: Be sure you are tracking your progress you made on a certain program. By tracking results, you will find what worked and what didn’t work and you can start ‘customizing’ your own program.

Vince: What is your number one training tip to burn fat?

Joey: It is very hard to limit to one tip, but the best tip would be to start doing early morning cardio before breakfast consuming only the following:I call these “Muscle Shots” They dont taste that bad, but they are not great!

1. 2-3 tspn of instant coffee

2. 1/2 scoop of protein powder (preferably chocolate)

3. 3/4 cup of water.

4. 5g of each of the following (BCAA, Glutamine and Creatine)

Vince: Do you take supplements? Which ones and why?

Joey: Protein Powder: Convenient source of protein

Multi-Vitamin: Insurance on getting all minerals

Fish oil: anti oxidant Udo’s oil: Perfect blend of “good” fats. D

igestive enzymes Glutamine, BCAA and creatine: I find these help with recovery and training

ZMA: I take this during heavier training phases.

Vince: Which program of mine are you currently following?

Joey: I am currently using Vince’s advanced portion of “No Nonsense Muscle Building” program. However I have modified some portions for my own body composition goals.

END OF INTERVIEW

Joey gave me permission to share his video success story so far and this is exactly what I’m looking for you to submit if you with to be apart of the Transformation Challenge.

Brian,

I purchased an insulated cooler that fits all my lunches in. I pack it with ice and it keeps things cool or hot for the majority of the day. it is tough if you are on the road, but there are always ways when you plan ahead :)

Good luck

Hey Siddharth,

Not sure exactly what you mean by ‘heavyweight’ training. But yes, if you are looking to pack on some weight (and muscle), you should definelty start training with weights. Not sure if you have checked out Vince’s program, but it is definetly the way to go.Good luck
