About running to reduce weight: Try doing intervals, running as fast as you can 30 to 50 meters uphill. Then jogging, running slower or even walking to get your  breath back normal, then repeating. If the hill is not high enough, go back downhill and play a sprinter again. Repeat 5 to 10 times. Do you know, how the best sprinters in the world are training? If not, ask them... Their bodies are usually awsome! (I used to run upstairs both in the 9 floor house in Helsinki, where I used to live, the same upstairs in Helsinki Metro stairs. I was then in my 50s.
