My beautiful girlfriend of 7-months, Flavia, said “Yes!”
Vince Del Monte is officially engaged and I’m the happiest guy alive. Can’t you tell by the picture? (You can see all the pictures of The Proposal unfolding below)
I proposed on November 26th, the day of my 30th Birthday. Pretty sweet birthday gift, eh?
We had our Dominican vacation planned for the past few months so I always had a feeling this was where I was going to pop the question. And I did it Vinny Style. On the beautiful Saona Island in the water…before taking her to shore and getting down on one knee while a boat of 40 french people watched and cheered from the side. It’s quite the entertaining story that I might share another time, with Flavia of course. (She’s tells it better than I do).
I will tell you that I planted every seed of doubt possible to ensure Flavia had no idea I would propose that week. I was torturing her with comments that suggested marriage… but not until 2012… and that I would be ready to look at rings in late 2011. LOL.  I’m a huge tease.
I will also reveal that I had an entire speech prepared and totally froze up (I’ve never been so nervous in my life… my adrenaline actually skyrocketed like I was in a fight) and I remembered only two things I planned on saying!  I have a whole new respect for men who have proposed – WOW!
I booked the hall 4-weeks before proposing (Yes, I’m pretty confident and when I see what I want, I get it 
) and Flavia was ecstatic about that too. Little stuff she can brag about to her friends  It could not have been a more perfect day.
If you picked up the DVD’s then you will have already found out after watching the Day-In-The-Life DVD’s why I fell in love with Flavia so fast. She’s the highlight of the footage, in my opinion, and I think you’ll be more impressed with me after you see why I chose Flavia to be my wife! (Crazy to write that).

So It’s Time To Celebrate One More Time!
Sharing that with you lets me relive this special day so thank you for taking the time to read and be happy for Flavia and I. As you can imagine, this news has been burning me up inside. I was planning on making this announcement after the birthday bash dust settled.

I proposed to my gentleman friend 6 years ago this coming New Year’s Eve. I had been wracking my brain for six months trying to figure out how to do it, written tons of letters to him (none of which were ever sent), but in the end… It all happened so fast that I didn’t realize until after the fact that I’d even done it! Hey Vince, another question. Back in college, I started working out but refused to work legs. Now I’m 40 and this mistake still haunts me, even after 3 years of steady gym attendance.
I wanna add 10 pounds of leg muscle.
So anyway, I’ve been using a note pad and stop watch in the gym…measuring # of reps, time under tension and pounds lifted. Once I get to 14 reps with good form and 70 seconds time under tension, I know it’s time to increase the poundage.
The problem is, I keep getting stronger and stronger (on paper) with upper body. The improvements are fairly steady and gradual every week. But with legs, I seem to be peaking out with nothing in terms of measurable improvement.
Would you recommend switching legs out to 3 sets of 10 or would you continue with the crash sets?

We took that shoot over the course of 2 hours.. I didn’t do a SINGLE pushup or anything to get pumped up for that. I would probably look too vascular if I did. Thats the affect of LOTS of carbs into depleted muscles and cutting your water for previous 18 hours.

Congrats to you both! We just crossed over our 25th anniversary.It’s just as sweet now as it was back then. Advice for you and all your blog readers….At the end of the day when y’all get back together and one of you has had a particularly bad day….tell the other so that you can “give” each other some time and space to decompress…when you’re ready you can rejoin the activities but you won’t have blown up with each other over something they had no control over…. proof that it works #1 try it you’ll see for yourself, and #2 our daughter (then age 10 or so) came in from school one day announced she needed “decompression” time…and after a while….all was happy…Have a great life….. Congrats Vince, LOL I entered your competition but forgot to look at the date. I see it’s finished, damn. Anyway I saw your new post about your engagement and it made me smile. I too just proposed (28th Nov), it wasn’t on my birthday but my girlfriends birthday.
I had to laugh at your comment about how your speech crumbled under that weird feeling that succumbs you. I too was as cool as a cucumber, but as soon as I sneakily got the ring and approached her I suddenly got nervous as hell. What a weird feeling but what a great moment when she said yes!
